R & M: One Week And Counting

I believe we are just one week away from the conclusion of Robin & Maynard's contract and their potential return to the Seattle airwaves. What are the chances that there will be some sort of an announcement early next week? Being outside of the radio biz I don't know how those contracts are written. Would they have been able to be in the planning stages with another employer prior to their Entercom contract's expiration, or does next week mark the beginning of their ability to even start looking?

I'm counting down the days...

C'mon people - WHERE are they gonna go next??

Me too. My non-radio biz educated guess is KJR. As long as they come back, it really doesn't matter what station they are on. Well, I should add that the station needs a stream (nearly all do) because my radio at work can't get Seattle stations. I'm in Bellingham.

Leykis was #1 in men 18+ and men 25-54, BJ was good enough to move to AMD, and the Men's Room was good enough to move to PMD. Who was the weak link that caused the Buzz to get blown up? Hmm...

Do you really think ONE person could cause a radio station to completely change their format? As much as people love to blame her, wouldn't it have made more sense to simply get rid of R&M and move BJ to mornings? The flip to country was probably in the planning stages for months, especially since KISW was losing Stern.

Funny, when they went to the buzz, everyone knew where they were going before the contract was up, and they auctally went on the air right after the contract expired. This time there is no announcement beforehand like "listen for Robin & Maynard coming soon" and a station saying "Major Seattle personalities coming in May".

Should be interesting to see what happens.

Their website is still up, but there's no info. Just the logo and a picture on the main page.

I agree.. What is that really saying about, "Radio for Guys" being so called taken down by one woman. Robin. That's almost amusing in it's irony.. Come on..

Re: Robin and 'Curmudgeon'

Admittedly I'm outside the business, but I would think that the writing was on the wall when the syndicated shows were reduced and more local talent was on-air. Given the slightly incestuous nature of Entercom on the radio dial, here, I think that the local talent who were favored believed that they were being guarded from harm.

The days have been counted and add up to a big rotten zero.

No R&M to be found
Their website shows a monorail in flames, Roy at the wheel.
The last IKnowItAll post ends with an 'Adios Seattle' (though it was posted on April 1...)

I miss the mess we knew as Robin and Maynard.
