R-News

As long as the subject of ratings is being addressed, as anyone ever determined how many viewers R-News has?

I've never personally seen any figures and was wondering how R-News compares to Channels 8, 10 and 13.

I saw numbers one time that measured each hour by the number of cable boxes turned to our station . It was often comparable to the other stations, but I don't remember specific numbers.

Thanks for the information. I appreciate it.

I never even saw the numbers that Sxottlan refers to - and of course those numbers can't reflect anyone who's not watching through a cable box. But I can say anecdotally that when I was on the air at R News (1998-2001), I was consistently amazed at how frequently I was recognized when I was out and about in the community. Even now, seven years later, I still get the occasional "I see you on Channel 9" comment. Maybe it's just that small-town quasi-celebrity mentality thing...

A lot of people in Rochester has cable and R-News is "always on."
