R&R AUGUST 2ND UPDATE

Looks like WQUT is back to #2 by itself, although WTFM continues a steady rise. Do they have a PD yet? Can WIVK really be #7 in The Tri-Cities market? And wow look at WXBQ! The last ratings I saw looked like Electric took the big hit, this one looks like their #1 in the market sister station did. R&R has WXBQ at an 18.9 whereas they were 24.5 last quarter. (According to R&R) their ratings drop alone is more rating than all but 3 stations in the market even get. Can the WXBQ drop be credited to the WIVK rise in our market? One more thing... it appears to me if you're not in the top 4 (WXBQ, WQUT, WTFM, WGOC), it doesn't matter where you are from #5-#12 because they constantly swap every book.

My, but 'XBQ took quite a hit! And Butch goes back to the drawing board. I was surprised by WIVK in the Tri-Cities...their best book to date. And 'GOC continues to surprise. I knew there was a market for classic country. Now, if someone had had the initiative to put that format on FM, the numbers would've been even bigger. Congrats to Daddy O Don, Hogan and company for a good book. And good luck to all in the next book...I'll be watching.

P.S. Rumor has it that a Tri-Cities jock may be leaving the market for family, fame and fortune somewhere else. I want to wish him all the luck in the world. I hope you get whatever it is that you want. God be with you.

Crossman, you seem pretty plugged into the market still. Do tell...Who's leaving? At least give us a hint of some kind.

I don't want to let the cat out of the bag just yet. I think that, if it happens, you'll know soon enough. From what I hear, it does sound fairly promising. That's all I can say for now.

I seem to be the only one interested in the talk wars, but . . .

I think it will be interesting to see how the change of WFHG-AM to "The Sports Fox" will affect "Super Talk" and if they can maintain superiority over WJCW.

What is really unusual is now the Tri-Cities have two all-sports radio stations in WKIN nad WFHG and yet neither of them have any local talk hosts (save for Bill Meade's simulcast).

So c'mon who's leaving the market? I heard a rumor that it's someone from WXBQ. I heard this from a friend who heard it from someone else who isn't involved in radio at all, but does know a lot of people. The only interesting thing to me is that I heard this rumor the same week as this post came about and they were completely unrelated. For the record, I have no idea as to the validity of that rumor, just stating what I heard.

I heard that Dennis Kelly was leaving to the coast of North Carolina. But that's old news. Who would we like to see leave the market? Anyone?

Gary Blake. Oh, I forgot. He did that twice and always came back. Never mind...

The rumor is semi-true...SM has been offered a job as a Regional PD for Double-O Radio's Central NY stations.......but it will take some $$good money$$ to get him to move back home to the Empire State.

I can't hardly believe that SM would leave unless is was a substantial amount.
He seems too rooted in the Tri-Cities.
Unky Buck, remind me where you are on the dial and your shift so I can hear your
formidable voice again. I'm not off 'til after 10, but I'd set a radio version of TIVO to hear ya.
Thanks,
The Spindoctor

It is failing me, I had no idea Uncle Buck was into Sadistic behavior.
Ya just never can tell! Sheesh, you think you know a guy and he shows
up on the cover of Spank Me magazine.
