R&R Changes Hot97 back to Rhythmic tag.

Less than 1 year after moving Hot97 from the Rhythmic to Urban, As of 6/4/07 R&R Moves Hot97 Back to Rhythmic. Is Hot97 Really Changing to Rhythmic? I have Seen Bonjovi Aviril Lavigine Gwen Stefani played there a bit. According to yes.com BonJovi had a list Rank of 48 for the week.

Maybe this is a sign that Hip-Hop has peaked out as I've noted in an earlier post.

Once Rap loses its core audience who were Whites 12-29 year olds that made up 70 percent of their consumers, that produces a net loss and that's a major loss. Whites are still the majority population.

Thanks,
Kevin l. Sealy

That would be k-rad!!!!!

I guess they are trying to compete with 98.7!!

Hip hop sucks....

At least the hip hop of today sucks.

Um, I looked at their top 100 on YES, and I didn't see Avril Lavigne, Bon Jovi, or any other artists that couldn't be considered Urban.

Maybe the change is phase one of keeping Al Sharpton off their a**...

Were you looking at the top 40 or rhythmic charts or something? Where did you see Hot 97 playing Bon Jovi and Avril Lavigne?

yes.com

Well BonJovi "Who Says You Can't Go Home" was on there the last 2 weeks it was rank 48 then 26 but it is not listed this week maybe it was a yes glicth since I don't live in the area I cannot confirm that Hot97 actually played this song.

Check this out this is the R&R Rhythmic Chart

http://www.radioandrecords.com/Formats/Charts/Rhy_Chart.asp

Compare it to the Hot97 Playlist

With the Exception of:

DOWN AKA KILO-Lean like a cholo
AMANDA PEREZ-CANDY KISSES
GYM CLASS HEROES - Cupid's Chokehold
PAULA DEANDA-Easy

Hot97 has each and every Song left on that chart in Rotation

Now check R&R Urban

http://www.radioandrecords.com/Formats/Charts/Urban_Chart.asp

Most(but not all) of the Urban Ballads on the Chart are now gone from Hot97 like

Tank-Please Don't Go
Fantasia-When I see you
Mario-How do I Breathe
Ciara-Like a boy
Marquess Houston-Wonderfull

I don't know many Urbans that Spin

Kinfolk-Krispy
Sean Kingston-Beautiful Girls
JT-Summer Love
Amy whinehouse-Rehab
DJ Quik & AMG-Can U Work Wit Dat(very few spin this)

It seems like the station is doing more of a Transition than an Instant Flip.

Bonjovi and Avril Lavigne on a Rhythmic? Try Mainstream CHR. We call that a segue

And YES, to the second question...
