R&R, I REMEMBER

Sad to hear that Radio and Records is going away. At one time it was the leader and I remember when it first started out. My ole friend Jim Duncan used to do the country music charts for R&R from his home in San Diego. So SD has some roots for R&R. It will be missed.

I have to say that this was a total shock for me! I used to go down to the newspaper stand at UTC so that I could read the R&R, and follow the trends, the articles and the different radio station charts from around the country. I would keep up with what WXKS FM in Boston was doing.

Very sad day!

I remember when it first came out in the early 70's and how you were lucky if your station subscribed to it and luckier still if you actually ever got to see it: these were highly coveted - everyone wanted to read it and some PD's and GM's did not want their jocks to see it because of the job ads.

I had long wondered when the consolidations and dumbing down of radio would start to take a toll on businesses that serve the radio such industry such as publications and that morning show bootcamp.

yes it was a great paper it was more fun reading the paper than going on line yea it was hard to get a copy to review but on overnights the gm's office would be left open sometimes and a copy would be on the desk and I would get to look it over one time I forgot to put it back and oh my god the gm almost had a heart attack and wanted to fire the whole staff for going in his office those were fun times
