Rachel Barnhart Goes Back to Channel 8

I guess one can go back home again.

Rachel posted a notice on Facebook and Twitter that after spending several years at WHAM Channel 13 she is returning to WROC Channel 8 where she will anchor a new 4:00 p.m. weekday newscast. According to her message she starts immediately at Channel 8.

For those of you not familiar with the Rochester media market, Rachel worked at Channel 8 years ago but then went to Channel 13.

Rachel's departure was around the same time that 8 was undergoing some on-air personnel changes which also saw the departure of several other very talented reporters.
 
That is BIG for channel 8 WROC. She did seem under used at 13, And with Sinclair now calling the shots at WHAM 13 her future may have been cloudy. WROC is on it's way up. WHAM 's future may not be as bright.

Yes it is BIG news for WROC. It’s somewhat ironic that several years ago WROC had a reputation for getting rid of quality reporters. Now look at what they have!

As for any forthcoming personnel changes at WHAM TV that remains to be seen. New owners always say nothing will happen, but those of us who have worked in that business or still do know what that statement really means.
 
Does anyone know if Amy Young is still at 8? She was supposed to be the weekend anchor.

Last time I tuned in Amy was reporting. Rachel was anchoring weekends. I believe Rachel said that come this fall she will be anchoring a 4:00 p.m. weekly newscast on Channel 8 which Amy could end up as weekend anchor.
