Rachel Maddow to Morning Sedition?

AAR Hints at "Raising Profile" of Maddow
What's up with early morning host RACHEL MADDOW at AIR AMERICA RADIO? An article to run in the NEW YORK TIMES this SUNDAY profiling MADDOW and fellow AAR host RANDI RHODES says that the network plans to raise MADDOW's profile in the network's morning show. Could that have anything to do with "MORNING SEDITION" host MARK MARON's frequent comments on the air about the pending expiration of his contract?

Meanwhile, AAR's AL FRANKEN's "THE TRUTH (WITH JOKES)" will debut at number 1 on the TIMES' nonfiction best seller list in SUNDAY's BOOK REVIEW.

Mark Reilly and Rachel Maddow:
One has talent worthy of market 150.
The other helped run the midmorning daypart into the ground.
But promoting diversity is more important than good radio.

I started my morning with Rachel's show before I was promoted recently. She's good at what she does. Being gay myself, I consider her a role model for me wanting to get into liberal talk myself.

"Unfiltered" could not get off the ground running to begin with, but it had nothing to do with any of the hosts. In Columbus, the show only aired live during the first three full days WTPG AM 1230 was a liberal talk station, and it became one of four stations to air Jones Radio Networks' Stephanie Miller from day one.

And if Rachel replaces Marc Maron, it would halt me from calling the new PD, Bruce Collins, and asking him to consider replacing "Sedition" with Bill Press. We just got "Sedition" back after four months of day-old Springer.

Don't blame Rachel. Give Stephanie the credit she is due.
______________

Oops.....Did this come off of some news release, or from a trade pub article that was truncated? I guess I'm not sure why this number has appeared at the end of the message. Hmmm.....

Rachel Maddow is an excellent host - delivery, writing, humor, combined with the essential qualification in liberal talk radio of exposing hypocrisy. It's unfortunate that she is now on for only one hour and so early out west. I'd love to see her get promoted to three hours, if and when that ever happens (Disclaimer: I have NO info on this matter). I like the suggestion offered earlier on this board as Bob Edwards as a co-host. I'm not sure why Mark Maron is leaving. Is it ratings? If so, why not just move him to another timeslot less dependent on advertising revenue than morning drive?

Scuttlebutt is that Maron doesn't get along with the new CEO.

Rule #1 of radio: if your boss doesn't like you, it doesn't matter what your numbers are, you're going to get fired.
______________
