Rackmount Flash/SD/Network Recorder Suggestion?

Hey guys,

Anyone have a recommendation for a rackmount flash/sd/network recorder?

I have clients who use our CD-Recorder to record full length programs. It works great however you never know when you are recording on a bad cd and it decides to give the infamous "REC ERROR" halfway through the recording.

The Marantz has been reliable so far in 3 years of heavy use. And convenient. The Tascam should be a good one.

If network access is needed, the Marantz PMD-580 works nicely. I have one set for lo-fi, 32kbps mono, that logs studio audio on certain shows. Putting the record list together in it is a bit clunky, but it has been running without an issue for almost 2-yrs. It uses CF for storage. Nice box IMO.

Do anyone know if any of these machines have either built-in timers or the ability to start recording upon power up or an external contact closure?

The PMD-580 can be fired remotely via GPI and can be programmed via the browser for timed recordings. That's how I use it to log studio audio.
