RACY DELILAH GETS 10-SEC DELAY ON KVIL

So I'm DXing just a bit during the evening and listening to KOOI-106.5/Tyler sometimes when I'm on the east side of DFW...and noticed them playing the very same songs as KVIL! Finally figured out that both KOOI and KVIL are running "Delilah," but KVIL has her on a 10-second delay. What on earth is Delilah going to say that might need to be bleeped? It doesn't get much more sappy or saccharine than she. I'd be more frightened of June Hunt and "Hope for the Heart" than Delilah.

Now those that I know who have met Delilah say that she's completely the opposite of her on-air persona, and that she tells folks privately that it's all an act and a ruse...that just happens to pay well. Maybe CBS is afraid the real Delilah will come forth one day on the air?!?

Is KVIL running HD? If so, that would explain the delay.
 
Yes I second this - I bet KVIL is running HD, and they're probably only about 7 seconds delay... and the east texas station doesn't run HD, and doesn't need the delay.

The delay has nothing to do with the board ops finger on the swear catcher (and trust me, it isn't on this program). It all depends on when the playback comes through on the station's sat reciever. I've heard Rush Limbaugh as much as 30 seconds apart on KOGO in San Diego, and KFI in Los Angeles. Most times it's about 7-10 seconds apart.

No, see, Rush WOULD be profanity delayed, because he takes phone calls live.
 
You're right busyguy, but I still have a hard time understanding this. Some of the "hot talk" shows have as much as a 60-second delay at the network, ie, they are not feeding the sat until a minute after it happens. Whatever the delay is on Rush's show, I have to imagine they're paying someone good enough to dump anything before it gets uplinked. This is especially important since, when you're on 650 stations, not all of them can afford to have someone parked in front of a dump button for a syndicated show.
 
If our suspicions that KVIL is broadcasting in HD, then the delay makes sense. It has nothing whatsoever to do with profanity delay. HD stations are required to delay the analog portion of their signal, so that folks listening to the HD signal will hear a seamless transition between the Analog and HD signal where HD reception is spotty. The analog signal delay is to keep the analog programming in sync with the HD signal of the same programming.

I can confirm that KVIL broadcasts in HD. (Their HD-2 channel recently flipped from "Chick Rock" to something called "Rise.")

Wait, does this mean we can look forward to KVIL making their HD-3 the "All Manilow" channel? :p

Not got get off the porn, but...

Unless you have one hell of an antenna, you were must likely listening on the 'net and experiencing different levels of buffer and not delay (not that there isn't a delay).

Resume porn...
 
After some thought (and Google maps), LA and San Diego are closer than I thought... N'm.
 
Having worked with Delilah, I can testify she is 180 degrees from her public personna. She is coarse, vulgar, diva-like and there are incredible stories I know as fact that I just can not post on a public forum. But if the truth ever came out in a big public way about her real personna and the real way she does the show, it would be over for her very quickly. It might make a good story for the right investigative reporter.

I detest phonies and she is one of the phoniest
