I just listened to 940 Montreal here in Kingston,Is there a easy way to figure out the distance and get the calls and wattage for this station? This is new for me, I am sure there are some secrets, their web site doesn't give the calls, signal was coming in great.
______________
It's not the size of the tower.....
It's how you use it.

Go to the FCC mass media AM query website, as the FCC has transmitter records for the canadian stations. After that go to the indo website to calculate the distance between the transmitter and your home coordinates

http://www.indo.com/distance

from 100kw.com:

CINW
940 kHZ

940news.com is their site. I pick them up regularly at night and even
sometimes during the day in different parts of New England...including
the Rt 3 corridor in that area
______________

no substitutes!

What time of day did you pick-up Montreal's CINW-940 in Kingston, Massachusetts??

It is easy to receive at night in the Boston area; but if you heard it during the daytime hours, it's a good catch.

CINW is 50 kW directional with the same pattern 24 hrs. It's possible the reception was either sunrise or sunset skip. You'd be hearing it off the back of the pattern...

today *weds 10/12 at 615 am on my way to work I listened to that 940 signal out of Canada and it was as clear as WBZ. I also DX'd KDKA, WINS, WABC,WBAL and a few others.

Imagine back in the days before TV when people got thier news from newspapers and by listening to far away AM signals.
