They have purchased a new station that has 25.000 watts, does anybody know which station this is? Did Paulino Bernal finally sell his 88.1 station in Katy???

25 Thousand watts, or just 25 watts. The Period throws me off.
25 thousand watts, its supposed to be the strongest signal they have. Its just all up to the FCC, they have already signed the papers with its current owner, but im not sure who the current owner still is. Maybe it is Paulino Bernal.

And maybe it's not. If you're talking about the Katy translator (K201EU) it has an ERP of 250 watts, with a construction permit that will reduce that down to 125 watts. I'd tend to believe you've been misinformed, since I can't think of any likely station in the Houston area with a licensed power of exactly 25,000 watts. My guess is it's some other 250-watt translator.

Maybe I am wrong and Maybe im not but im pretty sure Mr Villareal said 25 thousand watts. He also said it cost him 70 thousand Dollars.

Then I'd think the dollar figure should tell you something about the wattage.

Well I guess your right guess we will have to wait till next week and see whats going to happend.

If it is a 25,000 watt, it has to be an AM, since I cannot bring up to my mind any 25,000 watts FM station in the area. Even then, the price is way too little. Probably a 25 "hundred" watts station is what you heard. If not, it has to be an out of town station.

The tower, transmitter and related transmitter equipment for a 25 KW FM would be worth, new, more than the price. A 25 kw AM would cost well over $100 k to build, just for the transmitter site... not even including the studios.

It's got to be a small AM or a translator.

New information Mr Villareal mentioned something about Katy, but I couldnt here what he said about it. So yes maybe he is buying the one from Paulino Bernal.

I can asure you its not the katy station and yes its a 25000 what fm station its in a town between houston and dallas I'm not sure about the call letters but he made a lot more then 70 thousand their also closing the deal on a new am in the houston area! I can asure you guys this since I'm a closer personal freind of ruben and robert villareal and about 88.1 katy bernal has told them over and over that he won't sell!!

so just tell us what station it is, and is it going to be heard better in houston?

The radio station you are referring to is a radio station that a partner and I came VERY close to buying almost two years ago from my old friend Jerry Proctor. The station is licensed to Centerville, Texas...although the studios are located in the heart of Madisonville.

KUZN (105.9 FM) currently runs, I believe, Waitt Radio Networks "Country Today" format. Obviously...that will change. Jerry told us that the translator on 102.5 in Livingston would be part of the deal if we bought it. I don't know if these people were given that opportunity. The asking price 2 years ago was right at $500,000. I don't know what the dollar amount of this deal was.

Well That sucks, why would they buy a station that is way over there, and skip us here in houston? And why did he say it was going to cover Katy?

Isnt that the same station that was sold by Jerry (and then taken back) from the potential buyers of 1150 in Port Neches?? I SAY potential as I have heard there are some petitions to deny being drafted because of said buyers past

With 88.3 on the north in Conroe and a 88.1 full power now on near Beaumont, the 88.1 satelator (it sure aint no TRANSLATOR as it doesnt receive a LOCAL station via FM RF) is locked in..it aint going anywhere except maybe lower.

Wait until the recent FCC changes produce new crop of LPFMs. The FM dial will be chaos. All I can hope is IBOC hash covers them and renders them useless.

I noticed the sale of KUZN to Aleluya in today's FCC Daily Digest but the sale price wasn't disclosed in the application, which was filed last Friday. The asset purchase agreement doesn't call for assumption of liabilities, and there's no mention of the Livingston translator.
