Rev. Al Sharpton, says he's going to take a wait-and-see approach to Don Imus' return( See If Imus screw up ).Don Imus, first show, on Dec. 3, will be at Town Hall in Manhattan(96.9 Talk FM Boston ). I Think Rutgers Woman Basketball Team, should be Don Imus first Guest . LOL

All those who care what Alleged-Rev. Al Sharpton says, signify by saying "aye."

(Cue the crickets.)

Al Sharpton = Human Waste....nuff said.

Does anyone think there will be protestors at Greater Media when Imus signs on? Are any of the reverends in Boston strong enough to get a crowd out?

So far it seems like theres not much protesting. I guess if Deval Patrick is OK with Imus being on WTKK, the rest of the black community is, too?

After the Rutgers coach said she didn't know how the ballclub could go on with the rest of their lives, I think she put the whole Imus thing in perspective for people. They turned a rude ugly remark by a jerk, into a scam, and most got that.

It will be interesting to see how hard Imus goes after Mitt who if he wins in NH (esp. if it follows a win in Ia) could be on his way to stopping frontrunning Rudy. That doesn't work for many of Imus's patrons and he could be a minor influence if he slams Mitt for Juliani every day 'till election day .

Fascinating. I completely disagree. I think the players and coach were great. I don't think they turned it into a scam.

Greater Media should be so lucky.

Scam, Sham or both? Imus will eventually win in the end. Buckets of money from his terminated contract, massive publicity reaching people who otherwise wouldn't have given him a thought, and now he's back on the air. The sham scam just bolstered his audience.

BTW it is a win-win for TKK listeners...Imus back, Graham to his old 2-hour slot and no more McPhee "what's your favorite Boston pizza place" talk. Would have been better to get Howie and put him somewhere not being utilized very well at TKK...like 12-3pm.

Sharpton, Jackson and others (especially those who place "Rev." before their names, and haven't learned about charity and forgiveness) did what they always did. They played the eternal, professional victim...and the coach bought it, hook, line and sinker. Unfortunately, so did Imus. If he had stood his ground, even once, and reminded the public of his overall record the same way Sharpton reminded the public about "poor, poor, pitiful me," he probably would have survived it. CBS, the corporation of fear, also bought Sharpton's act and caved like papier-maché (i.e., "Oh no! We can't OFFEND anyone!"). It was a disgusting, deplorable episode, which only shows that some people continue to play the professional victim and get away with it, aided and abetted by those without a clue.

It was all Sharpton, huh? And the fact that P&G, American Express, Sprint and many other corps pulled ads had nothing to do with it?

Of course it wasn't all Sharpton but he had a lot to w scaring those corporations into bailing on Imus. If you don't know the name Tawana_Brawley you might not realize what a fraud Al Sharpton is.>> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tawana_Brawley

Who exactly do you think scared them into bailing out in the first place? Advertisers shy away from controversy. There wouldn't have been any had Sharpton kept his foul mouth shut.

1) Why would or should Sharpton keep his mouth shut any more than anyone else? And, why does he bug you guys so much? (talk about a button)

2) Advertisers shy away from controversy? Isn't that what makes compelling radio? And isn't advertising what pays for it?

One talk show host should definitely determine what is acceptable for other talk show hosts. ::)

If it gets ratings of the right demographics that advertisers are willing to pay for, of course.

Don't forget Infidel, it's a business! ;)

Because he's a professional victim. He cares not one single bit about the people he presumes to speak for. He cares about one person: Al Sharpton. Period. And if you want to speak about pushing buttons, ask Stephen Pagones, who Sharpton ruined professionally, if he ever apologized in public (the same way he pilloried Pagones) when Tawana Brawley recanted her story. Sharpton runs off at the mouth and says nothing, yet the sheep who think he's really something can't get enough of him.

Not controversy on issues. Controversial hosts...i.e., what Imus became when his racist quote became fodder for the professional victim.

The real question for (the alleged Rev) Al and Jesse is how’s the soapbox thing going against the rap music industry?????????

When you look up the term "lip service" in the dictionary of slang, you see their pictures.

unlike dumber, I actually googled "lip service" and "dictionary of slang", and while there is no such thing, there is of course the urban dictionary. Al and Jesse's pictures did not come up, but a whole lotta other things did that may or may not be pertinent to this discussion.
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=lip+service ;D

I also found this clip of Sharpton talking about rap music lyrics that was filmed in February 2006 (pre-Imus) - do you disagree with anything he's saying here?
