Re: Radio Antenna
Try
http://www.radio-locator.com for a general location...
(The maps radio-locator.com uses are coverage maps, but one cannot zoom in!)
Copy geographical coordinates(G.C.), go to maps.google.com paste G.C. **
Or try
http://www.fcc.gov/mb/audio/amq.html for AM stations
http://www.fcc.gov/mb/audio/fmq.html for FM stations
(The fcc maps give a little closer idea of where the transmitter/tower might be
located, but I recall the maps might not be labeled, only show roads without
numbers and names)
Input Call Letters --> Click on call letters get coordinates
Copy geographical coordinates(G.C.), go to maps.google.com paste G.C. **
** Example: Where is WOJO-FM's (105.1) transmitter located?
Paste N 41 ° 53' 56.1" W 87° 37' 23.2" in search field on maps.google.com
Result: John Hancock Center, Chicago
Another example: Where is WDLS-AM's (900) transmitter located?
Paste N 43° 38' 23.0" W 89° 43' 23.0" in search field on maps.google.com
Result: Highway 23, East/Northeast of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin
Using these websites should give a better idea of who's tower(s) that might be!
The maps.google.com seems to work about the best, possibly mapquest.com, or
maps.yahoo.com may allow inputing geographical coordinates (or if you know the names/numbers of the nearest crossroads and the city/town name you could also try that!)
