Does anyone have any insight on the engineering side? Needless to say keeping the transmitter on the air during rough seas would be a challenge.

There are a couple websites that pretty much fully documents the ships used and the setups they had. They basically had to brace the transmitter in the hold. The recurring issues seemed to be of keeping the generators running 24/7 and having VSWR issues in heavy seas.

It must have been quite a job keeping the antenna impedance stable. The Ampliphase transmitters are really fussy about that.
