Radio.com Problem

Is anyone else having this problem with CBS' Radio.com?

When I go to the app (Android version in my case), I get a black screen and the message "loading station guide." Nothing happens. After a couple of minutes, the app unloads and I'm back at the previous screen. This has been going for several weeks. I tried emailing radio.com and got back a robo mail but still can't use the app. Since many stations can only be accessed via radio.com, I'd think they'd want this fixed. Maybe somebody from radio.com will read this.

I'm having the same problem on my Andriod. It works fine on my wife's iPhone So the problem is with the Andriod OS.

Keep in mind that, with the exceptions of the internet-only channels on Radio.com and some of the HD2's, CBS radio stations are available on the TuneIn app. They brought their talk stations to TuneIn sometime last year, and their music stations went back a few months ago.

That's correct and I do appreciate having the all news streams on TuneIn for Android. Unfortunately, the HD2 "Oldies" streams for KLUV and WOMC are what I used to listen to, not the "Classic Hits" HD1 streams. Any idea why those streams are being held back - especially since CBS does not seem in any hurry to fix current Android app (or post a link to an older version that did work).

While it's not an ideal solution, you should be able to add the streams for the stations you like either to TuneIn or another radio app. The iPhone used to have fStream. Not sure if the iPhone still has it or if it ever made a version for Android, but you get the idea.

The CBS Radio streams used to be fairly easy to figure out. Unless things have changed, CBS streams are actually on StreamTheWorld. Knowing that, you should be able to find the addresses of the streams you want because they held to the typical StreamTheWorld naming convention but used a different front end (Radio.com). The front end is completely immaterial and just for looks.

The Radio.com app for iPhone is so lousy. I tried three separate times and it never loaded. TuneIn is much better, though as mentioned some stations are lacking.

I'm kind of glad to read some other had similar trouble - not just me.

Here's another thought if you're having problems with the Radio.com app. It was designed for automobile use, but it can be used in any situation and has at least some of the HD2 stations missing from TuneIn. It's called Aha Radio, and it has an app for both Android and iPhone.

I use it when listening to CBS Radio stations in the car, and it lets me flip between CBS Radio and Slacker. You can use it to tune other stations besides CBS and Slacker, but I haven't seen much of a point in it since TuneIn's just as easy to use in car mode now that it has categorized favorites.

I hope someone from CBS monitors this.......CBS has done a nice real job with their streams and its great that they allow Tunein to carry them again! Why not put all of the HD2s and 3s (and even 4s) on Tunein as well? When you do a local search in Tunein there they would be, in all their glory. In particular, I would like CBS to pay attention to their WYSP station in Philadelphia. It has been playing the same 530 tracks from 117 artists (Jelli.com format) since the rock was dropped from 94.1 in Aug 2011 but kept kept on the HD3 station (a nice gesture). Why not contact the people at Jelli and ask them to expand the catalog (maybe include every song ever played on the old WYSP...some interns could compile this easily) and put it out there? Can't cost them much and would compete nicely with WMGK and WMMR in the ever increasing phone streaming category. MMR and MGK both have their HD2s on Tunein, but a U-Pick em WYSP with all of the YSP songs to pick from would attract more listeners I think....Maybe not commercially attractive, but would not cost much to set up and would show that CBS does not leave "forgotten" streams out there....very sad what the great WYSP has become....MMR and MGK HD2 streams are in the "forgotten" category as well I think.

I got an email from CBS radio.com tech support. They asked if the latest update works. I told them it doesn't. Asked for a link to archive versions. They said they "could not" provide one but they'd continue to work on the issue.
