Radio commercials are 100 years old

Here's a 10-year-old NPR story that came up when I did a search.

Of course, the whole idea(at least for some)was to give the station owners a vehicle to promote their products. In RCA's case, it was to sell radio sets. This was the situation before advertising others products and services.

That's certainly a top five earworm, now isn't it?? o_O
Worse, they tend to buy about three spots per hour on stations with really good traffic coverage---so you're tuned in, you want/need to know what the traffic situation is, and you're sitting through that jingle more than once.

It is even more tedious if you read how the money is used an what percentage of children are eligible…
