Wow, Tony Williams has become the Sarah Palin of this board. Have you not learned ANYTHING this past week? Agreed, not cool.. and people who post random links on here are lame anyway.

Report me to the moderator if you think it is so inappropriate to deem worthly of deletion.

I've been sitting out the day job for two weeks now. Then this guy shows up at my door and hands me a PPM.

As I sit in my La z Boy, A thought comes over me:

Radio consultant...That's it! I'll BECOME A RADIO CONSULTANT!

Besides, can't be any worse than being a weather guy. And like a pool shark, I'll just move to the next town when things go wrong!

Of course, if was a weather guy... I could explain my job to Mum more. ;D

This person gets it.

Most of the rest of you ... three blind mice.

Radio stations don't care whether they sound cookie cutter or not. They care about whether or not they make money.

If radio stations made their own decisions, they would still sound cookie cutter. Because there are only so many hit songs, so many things that work, and so many things people want.

Quit blaming consultants. No radio station is required or forced to do what a consultant says. They all listen because the consultant has credibility, he has facts and figures, and his job is based on being right. If he's not, he gets fired. It's easier to fire a consultant than a full time employee. And that's the simple truth.

If you were working at a station that was doing well, then the ratings fell dramatically after a consultant was brought in, who would you tend to blame?

If you're working at a radio station that's doing well, you save money by not calling a consultant. You call a consultant because you need help.

Well, some GMs are not that smart.

And some consultants are less so.

Both seem to believe the world would be much improved, if only the sun rose in the west.

Kent Burkhart was such a consultant that I encountered when I was 20 years old.

This man (woman) gets the point.

Don't shoot them unless absolutely necessary. :)

And many consultants are absolutely unnessary.

Lots of GMs aren't smart. That's why they NEED consultants. Right now, I have a cold. I can sit here and be sick, or I can call a doctor. I don't know how to cure my cold, so I'll call a doctor. Same with radio. This ain't rocket science. You need help? Call someone.

Sorry, but consultants are a fact of life. You can cry about how the way things are, but it won't change a thing.

A GM only needs a consultant if the PD is not smart.

Many consultants are simply legends in their own minds.

Actually, I am not crying about it. I was simply making a point that consultants can mess your station up, then leave for someone else to clean up the mess.

Since I do not work in radio any longer, I don't worry about it.

Some of you that have NEVER worked in radio, should not be so sensitive either. :)

Often consultants do not know or try to get to know the market.

Burkhart's downfall.
