Radio contests from the 60s/70s

Is anyone aware of any radio contests from back in the day that featured the collection of lyric submissions from listeners that would lead to a winner having his or her song recorded by a famous/semi-famous band? I'm talking locally or East Coast, not California or West Coast. Thanks in advance everyone.
