I was out in those winds near Westerville.. It was crazy. Still ton of debris on the roads out there this morning.

I live in Canal Winchester and I have a mess in my front yard but overall not too bad. My mom who lives in Reynoldsburg has a big tree down in her back yard so I have to go help clean that up today. I heard people were trapped in their cars in Gahanna from downed power lines. I've never seen winds like what we had yesterday. That was crazy.

My cable is back on but it looks like WCMH 4 is off the air.

WCMH is ok here on Insight cable. [But they may get the feed via Fiber and WOW doesn't or something]. Only station I know actually dark is WOSU-TV (they posted on their FB page last nite they were off air via their OTA Signal) -- at the height of the storm last night both Fox28/ABC6's OTA signals also were dark).

The last time we had a weather event like this was with the left overs of Hurricane Ike that hit us back in I think it was 2008.

Yeah the people on Hamilton Road / 161 area were trapped for 5 hours due to downed high tension power lines. [Reports it took AEP going to 3 substations to kill all the power going thru those circuits].

I live in NE Columbus / Westerville and the area is littered with trees down everywhere.. and those trees are not down you have roads filled with micro-branches from trees and scrubs.. looks like a war zone.

WCMH lost their studio-transmitter-link this morning... So the over air signal is down -- I am guessing WOW picks it up via over air.

As of 9:30 AM 88.1, 91.5, 101.7, LP 102.1, 103.1 and 102.5 are still off. Forgot to check 100.3.

790, 1550 and 1580 are also still off. 1320 was off at about 5:30 PM but was back on the air at around 9:00 AM with storm damage reports. Maybe Mark from WLOH 1320 will will post here about
his station.

OTH WOSU 34 and and WCMH 4 are still off the air... How quickly will WCMH get back on the air
since it's reported WOW cable alo gets their feed OTA from WCMH?

102.5 is off (CD101 err 102 err CD static).

100.3 was back on late last night.

St. Gabriel Radio's studio is without power but they are broadcasting 24/7 EWTN on AM 820 at the time. From their fb page "Our studio on Winterset Drive is still without power so we are unable to broadcast any of our local programming. However, our amazing engineer has kept us on the air with EWTN's programming."

Air1's translator at 99.3 was broadcasting stereo static this morning (Translator was on but apparently 90.1 WOHC was off).

Of course.. the saddest thing about this (but not surprising) is if you tuned to WNCI, or any of the big FMs this morning you heard "Best of morning shows" ... no one would have known the power was out for almost 200,000 people in the Columbus area alone...

790 AM out of Newark?Heath is back on. 1550 Am is also back on but with much lower the nominal power.
Maybe 1550 AM is on Generator power?

We know who that "amazing engineer" for St. Gabriel Radio is. ;)

Since WVKO-FM is co-located in the same building on Winterset Drive, both its it studios and tower sites are probably without power. The last time Hurricane Ike can through Columbus in 2008,
WVKO-FM was off the air for one weeks time. It took that long to get power to their transmitter site.

WVKO-AM is still off but with an with an Open Carrier.
They just updated their webpage a hour ago but nothing said about being off the air. Today is the day they normally have a three hour block of local talk shows. Tomorrow night, the every popular "vinyl vault" show is scheduled to be on the air.

Also, Nothing on the WVKO-AM webpage about being off the air:

"Due to the massive power outage, we are off the air and hope to be back up soon. If you have any concerns or questions, Lesley James is in the studio. Call 614-221-1025."

Yes this is one of those situations that WWCD would benefit if they still streamed.. The 102.5 transmitter is in a rural area and without a generator it's very easy to have it go off air.

How dose this storm compare to the wind to strike Central Ohio back in September of 2008.
That was just high winds from the remnants of Hurricane Ike.

Patience, power in short supply - Frustration mounts as homes stay dark
Columbus Dispatch, The (OH) - Wednesday, September 17, 2008
Author: THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
As widespread power outages stretch into a fourth day, people seem to be getting antsy.

In central Ohio, about 250,000 American Electric Power customers had no power as of 11:30 p.m. yesterday. That's down from about 425,000 without electricity at the peak, although the company's coverage areas overlap outside the seven central Ohio counties.

If I recall correctly, WWCD was not significantly, if at all, affected by the wind storm of 2008.
Maybe now they will bring back streaming? They probably wish they had kept streaming going
now.
