RADIO DISNEY IS SILENT

AM 1590 Radio Disney is silent, and has been for hours. Analog carrier is on, while the digital is off. No program audio at all.

Wow just like yesterday with the other station,

I guess they must be making their programming consistent around the clock and remaining silent in the daytime as well as at night. There's a raise in this for someone...

Is it now a Cumulus station? ;D

Not a Cumulus station...but I think Radio Disney borrowed the play book from them. If you look at the old thread about KMIC from about a month ago, their engineer actually posted his phone number to call him about problems with the station. I checked 1590 just now, and they are on the air as of 2:45am. Might want to give him a call. His screename is dragrage.

Radio Disney O&Os (owned and operated) and ESPN O&Os stayed with Disney....ONLY ABC O&Os went to Cumulus...

Wow,

You guys are really concerned about Radio Disney. I had no idea it had so many listeners. The hd Exciter locked up yesterday, while i was out of town. I drove back in and fixed it around 4:30pm yesterday. Maybe i should send a check to the diligent readers of this board.

Correction....the ABC O&O's are now part of the Citadel Broadcasting Company

Why just kids? I like them both, too! So do a lot of other people, judging on the sales.

Now if Radio Disney would just give up on IBOC and go back to great sounding analog audio - of course everybody knows little kids are going out and buying $200 HD radios.

iboc has BEEN off on radio disney. that's just your crappy antenna. ;)

I've been told that they couldn't get the analog to sound well with the HD, so they stopped iboc period. Also, I have not been able to pick it up in HD, even when driving near their tower.

They're also putting a lot of hash and noise on 1570 and 1610. They've got issues.

Yeah, their IBOC is definitely still on. Hash is apparent from 1570 through 1610, and I suspect that it may be bleeding over to 1560 and 1620 a bit, especially around the 1590 transmitter area in North Houston. WTAW/College Station is non-existent these days as far North as Cypress seemingly since IBOC was installed on KMIC.

Radio Disney might want to examine that business model again - they sounded GREAT in C-Quam stereo here in Dallas, and had a monster signal that locked in stereo about 290 miles to the West. My daughter knows a lot of kids. A lot of their mothers had cars with C-Quam radios and the kids knew Radio Disney sounded great. After the switch to IBOC - the range on the analog signal is greatly reduced, the station sounds awful on every radio a kid is likely to use, and a lot of kids are migrating to FM top-40 and hip-hop because the music sounds better.
