Radio Disney on 1280

I sometimes have minor problems at 3 in the afternoon, but one day Radio Disney just took over. This is not a good thing since the music is ... well, Radio Disney.

I'm sorry, but there's no Radio Disney stations on 1280, that I know of.

VChim ..... where you at?

If you're from the NJ area, might you be getting a barnacle harmonic from 640 ?

If they're still Diney and/or still WWJZ, that is .....

One normal day we took them from Oyster Bay on the north shore of Long Island, straight through NYC on the Belt, through Staten Island, all the way to here in NE PA on the car radio. Only some temporarily travelling slop from WFAN prevented reception near the Sunrise Mall. Heckuva signal.

No, I mean 1280. I get a lot of interference from a station on 1290, so it could be the one in Richmond. I should have thought aout Wikipedia's list of affiliates. I once asked a question on this board about how the radio could wander like that.

The one on 1290 gets out pretty well and often is on high power when it shouldn't be. I have heard it within 10 miles of WHIO's transmitter.

Speaking of that, those of you up north without any local stations on 1380 may want to try during the critical sunset time for WWMI before they change their power and go directional.

I got them once up in New Jersey back when they were WRBQ in the 80s and it was a good signal.

Having a music format makes it even easier to single out these days.

I have never been able to hear WWMI 1380 during the critical hours or nighttime here in VA but recently last Friday night I heard WFLA 540 in Orlando instead (or is it WFLF?) and it was airing Coast to Coast AM at that time.

Both the 640 and 820 Florida stations arrive here in SW Ohio at certain times during the year. 640 is never a strong signal when it does break through.I usually pick up the 820 station in late Feb through Mar, though 820/WOSU in Columbus can create a problem at sunset, I am usually able to null them enough.

Which 640 are you hearing? Only now and then can I ever get the one from The Villages that plays old standards and I'm in Tampa. Or is it the one from Royal Palm Beach that's listed as being sports? Don't think I've heard that one here but then again, signals can do unexpected things.

Getting WFLF is a real good catch. I never got the station on 540 all the time I lived up north.
They are WFLF but for some reason they also go by WFLA. 970 here in Tampa is WFLA.

1380 would be impossible at night because they swith to a highly directional signal. When I used to live in the northeast part of Tampa, they sounded like a distant DXing station when they switched to their nighttime mode. Sooner or later, you should hear their daytime signal at critical hours before they make the switch from nondirectional to directional.
