Radio Disney Ratings Up, Why Not in Nashville?

According to Radio-Info News, Radio Disney ratings are up and climbing. In a market where there remains a good family orientation, why haven't any of the cellar-dweller stations hooked up with Radio Disney?

Well, the fact that Disney is
popular and successful would explain why Cpsycholus just says no to Mickey Mouse.

Because arrogant know it all PDs and Consultants don't have CONTROL over its programming. I'm sure they think THEY could program it better. ::)

who would you suggest pull the trigger and go 'Disney'?
any sellable numbers in there?

How about 560? Biddle, Abraham and the gang will find a new home on 97.1 when RQQ goes sports anyway, so the "other evil empire" might as well try to buy 560 from whoever owns it. Plus, they can use the booster/translator/or whatever they're calling the backup on 103.9 in Drakesboro.

Radio Disney on 1300 would still be a major improvement. ::)
Back when Disney was in an acquisition mode several years ago, they offered 10 million for 1300. For whatever reason, they didn't accept it...

If you are referring to Nashville's 50kw WNQM-AM 1300, I can almost guarantee the reason the licensee turned down the $10 million is because WNQM is a Christian formatted religious station. Keeping this in mind, in helps to understand most fundamental religious broadcasters think or their radio station much like a church or an outreach ministry of a church having been "anointed by the Lord". In other words they consider "reaching souls for Christ" to be more important in the long term than making a quick $10 million in the short term. Fundamentalists believe their riches, reward and treasures are being "laid up in heaven" based on the "good works" being done in this life. This is the most likely scenario explaining why WNQM's licensee refused to sell WNQM.

Most Christians believe at least a variation of what you describe, not just fundamentalists. However, Christian-formatted stations are bought and sold all the time. In some cases, the owners may see themselves "on mission" and not want to sell and Robbert Broadcasting may be just such an organization. But it's a far different story among the larger organizations that own stations.

I tend to see a comparison here to Tuned In. Lightning 100 seems to be "on mission" as an alternative station. What would bring them to the point of changing formats? Is Lightning 100 for sale? At what price? It's basically a matter of, "I own it and I want it, because I like it, and I like what I'm doing with it."

$10 million is far from "chump change" for a high dial position Nashville AM, even at 50kw.

got no horse in this race..but seems to me radio stations have been way overpriced for the last 25 years or so...and thats why they cant pay for themselves..or talent, have to vt just to keep the electricity turned on..1300 is still just a low power am ..right? no real coverage..do the owners have more than 10 mil invested in it?? is it running in the black ? if i had 10 mil...last thing im gonna do is buy a radio station..

I'll buy it for them $1,300 if I can get it spread over 60 years at 2% interest. And it still would be over priced. But, the one thing, Buddy, we gotta have you VT and put it on R2R and let Romer re-live the golden years of Division Street. That is worth the price of admission for me.

First song, CR?

In this case, you’ll need to avoid any logical thought or thinking to arrive at why they refused.

WNQM1300 increased day-time power to 50kW 12 years ago.
