As part of a larger move by Disney, Triad Radio Disney outlet AM 1320, WCOG, has ceased broadcasting, as of January 22. Disney sold an RD affiliate in Wichita in 2009 and recently announced their intent to sell stations in five other markets. Recently, they announced the sale of their West Palm Beach and Norfolk outlets as part of a plan to eliminate some of their smaller market stations.
As well as WCOG, Disney has silenced stations in Albuquerque and Tulsa as part of the move. Radio Disney has been quite successful through tough times. Although their ratings are very low, even in PPM 6+ markets, RD has played a strong role in breaking numerous musical artists, providing strong promotional support for those on the Disney label (and many artists not on the label), plus acting in a backup role for the Disney Channel.
