Radio "DVR"?

I use the RadioTime Red Button. Great software! It runs in the background all the time, uses minimal cpu cycles (unnoticable on my Athlon 64x2 5000 with 2GB ram), can record as many simultaneous programs as your bandwidth allows, and never, and I mean NEVER misses a show! It's the best thirty bucks I EVER spent! EVERY radio program listener should have this!

Go to http://www.radiotime.com and at the bottom of the page, click on "Download Red Button". You will NEVER regret this...not for a single second!

Just to be warned, using a radio "DVR" (or ripper) will get you banned from listening on some internet stations.

Banned?! Why the hell would that happen? ???

A lot of station will attempt to detect the player agent and it matches the known streamrippers, they will kick the stream off and ban.

The primary reason, and why I ban these, is the fact that streamrippers actually will detect the song change and then slice the recordings up into the relevant files rather than a straight recording to listen to later.

I have no problem if some one wants to time shift the station to listen to later. I do have a problem with someone filling an iPod with my songs.

I also do other magic that screws up streamrippers. :)

What do you mean by "known streamrippers"? Can you give a few examples?

What's your take on radio recorders that give the option to record whatever plays over the audio output of a computer?
That option can be utilized to record Internet radio or anything you play through the computer system such as hooking up a cassette player so you can transfer cassettes to an MP3 file which then can be burned.

I'm glad you mentioned about time shifting because that's what I've done often.

How about the CC Witness? I don't work for C. Crane, but I am a past customer.
No compensation was received nor is any expected as a result of this post.

Wow, that thing seems really handy. MP3s, BOTH bands of terrestrial radio, and you can connect it to a computer to record internet streams.
