Radio Equipment Theft

I'm posting this here because it happened close to Seattle. Our technical vehicle was broken into last night, in Aberdeen. Among items stolen was an item that I'm asking everyone to look out for:

PTek model FM 500 - 500 watt FM amplifier, serial number 11736. This unit was still in the box as it came back from the factory after repair. Numerous other smaller items, but this would be the most obvious.

Thanks

So sorry to hear that ... I hope the story has a happy ending.

Echoed. Hope you filed a police report.

Imagine this is just as effective a place to report the theft, as it's a small radio world.

Best of luck on getting your property back.

Bill -

Sorry to hear about this. I just wanted to echo you should report this to your local law enforcement agency and provide the brand - model - and serial number of the equipment stolen so it can be entered into a nationwide database accessible to law enforcement.

I would also recommend you (or someone you work with) make it a habit during the next few weeks of monitoring Craigslist and Ebay to see if someone tries to sell it on either venue. If you find it there, alert your local police department/sheriff's office and see if you can work with them to buy it back (and arrest those selling it if they know it's stolen).

Wishing you the best of luck -

Thanks all. I filed the police report Sunday morning, and provided make, model, s/n for the PTek FM amplifier, also notified PTek directly, as well as the SBE Chapter in Seattle, Facebook, Radio-info, and a few other places. May not help, but you never know.

The police officer was the same one who investigated my copper theft problem at my AM site a few years ago.

There's good to come out of something like this... a) cleaned out the rig, b) get to buy new tools.

too bad you actually CARE about your credibility ... or it would be fun to go on the stations and mention the cops know WHO it is but haven't had the ideal opportunity or circumstances to make the arrest. Get the guy(s) sweating a little bit!!!

Yes...watch Craigs list...daily. They're putting legitiment pawn shops and other fencing operations out of business..Goof chance the thieves were stupid and thought they were ripping off a really cool stereo..
