Latin American stations seldom use call letters, and they are irrelvant. The name is the legal identifier, not the calls. Estrella 89.9 is supposedly 40 to 50 kw ERP, using a 10 kw transmitter outside Guatemala City.

I know this is off the topic a bit, but I just wanted to say sir that you have been a fountain of knowledge to all of us who are curious as to what the media scene is south o'da border and if no one has thanked you for all your help and kindness..allow me

Thank you. That is most kind. Fortunately, I have been able to work in nearly all the Latin American nations where there is free radio, and it has been fun seeing the different markets and countries over the years.

Of course, some of my knowledge is just a product of being there, not of being a particularly good observer. There is an old Spanish saying that "the devil knows more because he is old than because he is the devil" which I guess applies here. ;)

You might like some of the pictures of Latin American radio staitons at my website, www.davidgleason.com

I hear 89.3 Radio Estrella often from here via E skip. Although I've never heard the call letters announced, they are supposed to be TGYC and power is 25kw.
