Radio hits the multiplex this summer

Robert Altman films don't always draw huge audiences but are usually critical faves & I think I saw something about this one wow-ing critics at some film festival. I've never heard the show but Meryl Streep & Lily Tomlin as a country sister act should be worth the admission price alone.

Oh you poor thing...you have really not experienced
the imagination potential of your mind until you've
turned off the TV on a Saturday night...

(sfx: muffled speech followed by a loud click)

...turned that audio system down to the left end of
the radio dial...

(sfx: radio dial scan, ending with Carl Kassel giving
an NPR standard outcue)

...shut your eyes to close out all of the
distractions...

(sfx: auditorium crowd, fading to silence)

...around you...

(sfx: piano with PHC opening theme riff)

...and just let your imagination take you wherever
it will.

Kind of makes me appreciate simpler times...

I am a part time jock at a radio station on Saturdays. I get off at 7 PM. I turn on P. H. C. and just enjoy to listening to radio done with imagination for the long trip home. It makes me laugh, it makes me cry, and it makes me think.
Not at all what I do on the radio. If you are a lover of radio then don't deny yourself this treat on Saturday nights on your local NPR station.

Great advice! I found PHC four years ago, and within the first five minutes I was hooked :) This looks like it's going to be well worth the trip to the theater.
