Radio Icon Ron Lundy Passes Away

Radio lost one of it’s legendary icons today. Ron Lundy , passed away in the hospital near his home in Oxford , Mississippi after suffering a series of mini strokes , he was 75. Ron had been poor health for several years having lost a lung to cancer. It’s been a long time but I can still hear his booming gregarious voice say “Hello love Good Morning it’s 10:00AM and I am Ron Lundy on music radio 77 WABC New York City , the greatest city in the world !He was part of the greatest radio station line up ever assembled ;including Harry Harrison, Ron Lundy ,Dan Ingram ,and Cousin Bruce Marrow, who was later replaced by George Michael. Ron worked for WABC from 1965 until they changed to talk format in 1982. He then went to WCBS-FM from 1984 until his retirement in 1997. . He loved what he did and it showed. There is much more on Ron on the New York board but I am sure I was one of many here in the Hudson Valley who enjoyed his show. He will be deeply missed. God Bless and Rest in Peace Ron; and of course condolences to his family.
