radio in jasper...

Well, I worked in Jasper most of the day today. Worse yet, I was in a work vehicle and didn't have my typical HD radio or any satellite radio options. I was pretty tired of sappy "ez 97.3" or magic 96 and nothing else really came in good (i'm no fan of country either), so I changed out the mysterious radio stations which seem to be harassed on a regular basis here. Honestly, I found nothing wrong with the programming on "oldies 101.5" and wound up listening to it during most of my trip (lets just say it involved carrying a lift around to multiple sites around smith lake). The signal came in reasonably well in most places (this work vehicle had an actual metal antenna coming out by the hood). The signal did sound mono - but i also understand that is a common practice to get as much range out of a transmitter as possible. The liners, segues between songs, even the news breaks all sounded good. Of course, compared to 101.1 "the source" (oh, sorry, superstation 101), the cleanliness of the breaks for 101.5 sound utopian. Either way, good, clean, i liked the presentation. Well, except for Howie Day's "Collide" - I don't consider that an oldie (i mean come on that was what, 2005?)

To each their own. I'm sorry that the jasper radio guys can't seem to get along but frankly, if i lived in jasper, 101.5 would by my pick.

I will add I did have a hard time getting 100.1 (that's foxfm, right?) most places I went...

looking at the coverage map on radio-locator, i can see why.

So - maybe this wasn't a fair comparison, and i'll own up to that - - but i was not "disappointed" in 101.5 at all....
