Radio industry taps into downloads

Before everyone jumps on the "Clear Channel is evil" band wagon, if you actually read the story you'll see that CC isn't the only company doing this. Specifically, the reporter mentions Emmis.

What's wrong with a new form of research? I've heard of stations cruising Myspace pages for people in the area who fit the demo to see what songs are on their profiles. There's nothing wrong with trying to find new ways to tap in to your audience and figuring out what they like. This is just proof that traditional call out and other older forms of music testing are fast becoming irrelevant.
