Radio-Info figures

On the Portland Radio Ratings listing on the Radio-Info site it says that Portland's population is 1.7% Black,13.0% Hispanic. Are thse numbers accurate?

If you believe Wikipedia -
The racial makeup of the city was 91.27% White, 3.08% Asian, 2.59% African American, 0.47% Native American, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 0.67% from other races, and 1.86% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.52% of the population. Portland also has a large Muslim community, mostly of Somali descent. The largest ancestries include: Irish (21.2%), English (19.2%), Italian (10.8%), French (10.5%), and German (6.9%). [2]

The figures on the ratings page are probably for the entire market, while the wikipedia entry would be for the city of Portland itself. That percentage of hispanics in the market certainly does seem high though... Maybe it's supposed to be 1.3 instead of 13?

Key phrase there---if you believe Wikipedia---I'm not saying those figures are wrong, and this isn't a life-or-death situation...but this is Wikipedia we're talking about here.

Those numbers are wrong. From a story aired on WCSH 6 in May 2008 about a Pew study on the matter:

"The report says there were 15,656 Hispanics in Maine, a little over one percent of the state’s population. But that represents a 65 percent increase from 2000, when there were 9,480 Hispanics in Maine."

Note to board editor: I pulled this from an online database at my job. The story is not available on WCSH6.com.
