What can we do to remake radio?

In the early days radio was declared dead because of television. Then we had the dj era with jocks and music. This overcame the declaration of death.
 
The DJ era with jocks & music still works and adjusted for inflation, it probably isn't any more expensive to do today than 40 years ago. Problem is that someone discovered a way to automate the process.
