If you go to khmx.com You will see Sam Malone in the Mornings from 6-9 starting Friday. Guess Roula and Ryan got fired. I couldn't stand listening to that old man on KTRH, now he's on Mix? Who is the moron who made this decision?

I feel bad for R&R. Crappy day for them. Anyone know if Eric stays or goes? Anything official on a side kick. I've noticed Natalie O'neal getting some air time on the weekends. Maybe they are warming her up. Kat Cortez would be a lot better than Natalie. I can't stand listening to R&R or Sam so this is a lose lose situation for me!
 
They may just keep Roula and Ryan and just make it Sams show (wow, all former KRBE alumni). I think his whole deal with KTRH was to throw everyone off. I had a feeling this was going to happen. I just didn't see him doing talk radio. Mix needs a decent morning show. If R&R stay it could be an interesting show Friday.. wonder if they'll all talk about the old days at KRBE. I noticed the "See Ya!..Soon" billboards hadn't changed since Sam started. I bet they will after he starts Friday. CC had this in mind all along.

Unfortunately, Clear Channel decided to terminate the Roula and Ryan show today. We knew this was coming, ever since Sam Malone left KRBE back in March but hoped, for the sake of our listeners, this would not turn out to be the case. R&R got their walking papers they will not be back. Eric was asked to stay.

Roula and Ryan just got an award "Best in Radio" a couple of weeks ago. This CANNOT be a decision by CC as it isn't a sound decision. We can HOPE that R&R show up somewhere in Houston, and their show will be "the bomb."

I have never been a huge Sam Malone fan, but I found R&R just completely unlistenable. I (hate to say it) think CC made a very smart move. I can't see how R&R would land on any station of substance.

Roula And Ryan did have some substance that most shows don't, let alone their personalities were fun, not boring with catch phrases like "See Ya", like a tired ole dj named Sam still uses. I thought he didn't like doing the 20 something radio songs anymore, that is all mix plays, the same ole tired mix day after day, Sam ought to fit right in with that station now.

Was anyone listening to their show Wed. morning? I wonder if they got a chance to say goodbye on the air, or if they even knew yet. They weren't on Thursday morning at all.. just music, traffic reports and sweepers for Sam Malone's show.

Yesterday afternoon the KHMX site's R&R/Links page was still up, but it's since been deleted. For a while you should be able to see the archived page here.
 
Expect a format shake-up at KHMX

I had a hunch that when R&R were on the chopping block, that Mix was on the verge of reassesing its current format (i.e. format change).

R&R were the only ratings on KHMX. Removing them is like removing Howard Stern from K Rock.

R&R are the only reason KHMX has stayed above a 1 share. They are the only reason the station is still alive.

The ratings are not spectacular and actually, Atom and Maria and Rod Ryan (even though they're all going for slightly different demos) have been clobbering Roula & Ryan. They had a few good trends, but they've been very wobbly in the ratings.

I don't think Mix or CC higher ups would approve the firing of the only part of the station making revenue and ratings unless they had a grandiose scheme about how to make the station more competitive both in the mornings and with dayparts.

Mix has needed a more drastic shake up than just adding and deleting a few songs for some time.

From the anonymous and off the record information that I do know, I can say that I have absolutely no idea what will happen to the format this Friday.

I do know that Sam's now confirmed arrival will not be the only shake up at the station.

Maybe some people on this board with deeper industry connections in CC can spill the beans for us.

I listened Wednesday, they went off the air like they normally do. I don't think they knew a thing, it is like when you go to work and the idiots let you work the whole week and then get rid of you on a Friday. The world is a cut throat business and whoever did this to R&R, the karma will come back to them, I mean how can Sam Malone go to work for a station knowing two people lost their jobs because of them having a secret hidden agenda for months. I mean come on there were billboards hinting at his return for a while now. Roula And Ryan are 100 times better and funnier than Sam Malone will ever be. I hope he has a short stint at MIX, Roula & Ryan were the only things holding that station together, people sure didn't listen because of the same ole tired mix of music. Yawn

Secret plans and hidden agendas? Welcome to radio. I've seen hidden agendas in radio stations owned by husband and wife teams, medium sized companies and large companies. This whole business is filled with them. Nature of the beast. I'm sure people hated R&R when they first started too. It happens everywhere in this business no matter the company or the market size. People come and they go. Everyone in radio takes their next job knowing that it can and at some point will happen to them. To think otherwise if foolish.

I totally agree, I am in the Oil and Gas business and it has happened to me many times, in this day and time you just don't worry about it and do your job to the best of your ability, and have faith that it happened for a reason and move on. As a fan I loved their show, I just hate it for the listeners, because I know I am not the only one upset by this news, it is just lousy for the listeners the way this happened, thats all.

Actually the keyboard stayed behind. Belonged to KRBE. I think they should drop it from the roof tomorrow.

I wonder how long it will be before Maria joins Sam. She made that show on KRBE. I also wonder if KRBE picks up Roula and Ryan, and put Atom back on afternoons where he belongs. Hmmm?

Somebody needs too, I still can't believe they just vanished off the air like that, they had a legion of fans who loved their show, I have never heard kudos given as much to two radio personalities. The idiot at Clear Channel or higher up needs his lights punched out for them doing Roula And Ryan like they did. Their listeners were the real losers of this injustice, and I hope they boycott MIX now, I will!!!!!!
