-100.3 is bath water
-Sunny 1045, who talks about them let alone listens?

SURPRISE, BEN FM is the talk of town.

Ben has a great Idea. No Rules!

I talked about this FOX-FM format a long time ago. Let Sunny or the beat go and try FOX!

ITS TIME PHILLY, ITS TIME FOR FOX FM!

Yeah I was expecting that as well but instead more Radioboyphilly trash and lies. I can't wait til we get this FOX-FM like he predicts, recommends and demands. Maybe by 2019 some one will listen.

The Y-100 move was TOTALLY (you know what), you don't have to be a Rocket Scientist to figure out why Radio One flipped Y-100. Y-100 billed more and had more listeners than whatever is on their now (pun). Do you think Radio One will flip them back, don't hold your breath. In some instances its not ratings or making money that call for a flip, it goes deeper, check out the companys image.

Rich rich rich rich rich! Why play the race card? It's actually all about da benjamins. I had posted a link here a while back about a discussion on another radio-related internet message board, an URBAN message board (that doesn't mean that white boys like you and me can't read and post there), that Y100 was a very expensive station to run.

Think about the over head:

Two major station concerts a year, while the rock shows are not drawing.
5 person morning team.
Two prime jocks that had been there for a while.
Booking about 10 Sonic Sessions a year at least.
A bunch of vehicles.
A new facility shared with the "other" station.
And a whole lot of other stuff, like producing the sonic session cds and all the promotions and the support staff working just for Y100...

It all adds up. I really don't think that race had as much to do with it as you think. If anything, Y100 was a victim of it's own success.

I don't think its RACE at all. But I think that they wanted to BRAND their company as a more urban company as a whole. I also agree whole heartedly Active Rockers are expensive to operate.

Don't get carried away. Have them add more oh wow tunes, then maybe I'll bite.

Bath water is actually enjoyable compared to this drivel.

Philly has one too many hip hop stations. Something's got to give!<P ID="signature">______________
I've done it all...HOO HOO...tell 'em, Fred!

Actually, if you go to Radio and Records website you will see that 100.3, since the flip, has been rated LOWER or almost EQUAL to Y-100's last few books. Not exactly the HIGHEST RATINGS in years!

I think this whole boring retread of a "conversation" is ridiculous and nothing more than a smokescreen for agendas which have already been made crystal-clear...but I have to say that I'm sure 100.3 is performing better with their desired target audience than it was as Y100. R&R's 12+ numbers are hardly telling.

But don't get cranky: I'm agreeing with you!

Y100 overhead? Don't believe the hype...

1. Y100's concerts MADE money - they did not COST money. (hello?)
2. Sonic Sessions were not costly to execute and the minimal costs were recouped by the sales of the CD's leaving a very large chunk of money every year that was donanted to CHARITY.
3. The new facility was necessary for all RO's stations - Y100's presence there is irrelevant.
4. Vehicles are a cost of doing business in radio - without them stations can not get out on the street or do appearances (and Y100 did more appearances than most stations in the market which justified the cost of the vehicles).
5.By the time Y100 went off the air their staff was cut to a shadow of what it once was...2 full timers in promo & 2 in programming - hardly FAT.
