There hasn't been one decent radio engineering opening in Boston in the past 5 years. That's why I gave up and moved back to L.A., where I got a good paying job in two weeks....
As far as (radio) employment goes in Boston, it might as well be market 211 instead of 11.
Have fun with your cold, rainy weather all....I'm back in the land of the sun, and won't be back!
I can relate what LA Guy has said. I, too, was employed full-time in the "industry" several years ago, until illness did me in some 16 years ago.
It was a blessing in disguise. Before my illness (and my full-time broadcast job), I was working full-time in educational/audio-visual. Then, that stupid "radio-bug" (that
"pain-in-the ass" feeling that's in all of us who love radio) called me back to a "better opportunity" (yeah, right!)..... you know.... better pay, benefits.... the whole she-bang. Little did I know that a 35 hour a week job wound up to be a 70 hour a week job with
NO overtime whatsoever. The economy was also on the skids at the time as well. Eventually, this "burning the candle at both ends" caught up to me in the form of a stroke and a few other maladies for good measure.
It nearly killed me, and LA Guy knows the whole story. Today, I AM still in the industry but NOT full-time
(no way!). I got back to educational/audio-visual, full-time. Oh yes, I still do radio engineering from "time-to-time"

But I do it for fun and nothing else. Do I miss full-time employment in radio?
Not on your life. I'm back to where I belong and
NOT looking back.
BTW (LA Guy): I will possibly be in the LA area (Anaheim) in June for InfoComm. Drop me a line if you can!
