Radio legend Joe Finan passes away

More here. And here.

Joe worked at WHK, WTAM/WNBK-TV (now WKYC), WIXY, in Denver and most recently at WARF; but had a very long stint in afternoon drive at FM talk scion WNIR. He was 79.

- Nathan Obral

Does anyone know why he left WNIR? Was it his choice or did they terminate him?

Joe did indeed retire from WNIR. It was a big deal, and he was on the air for months after the announcement before he finally left that station's airwaves.

As the story goes, he started talking to WARF about a return...and when they suggested a weekend slot, he wanted five days a week.
