Radio Lightning programming

Has Lightning 100 drop most of their programming that is not produced in house or locally? I tuned in on Thursday night for the first time in quite a while to listen to "Elwood Blues' House of Blues Hour" and noticed it was still the night time DJ that was still on. The same thing last night when I tuned in to see if the "Grateful Dead Hour" still came on. So have they dropped those shows or just moved to a different time slot? It's been a while since I last listened to Ligntning 100 that late at night, so is this something recent or did these changes occur a while back?

They dropped Retro Lightning after Fred Buc's arrest. Couldn't they have continued it with a different host? And they recently lost Music City Roots to Hippie Radio, so they have let in-house and locally-produced programs leave their airwaves, as well.

I was well aware that both Retro Lightning and Music City Roots are no longer being aired on Lightning 100. One of the reasons not to continue Retro Lightning after Fred Buc's arrest had to do with, since the departure of Fred Buc and David Hall's death, there was no one else there do the years before 1984 or so justice. Remember, Mary Brace only hosted when the feature year was 1984/85 or later. Never enjoyed those shows as much as I did when the feature years were pre 1984, especially when he late 70s years.

Agreed, but I thought that she would continue the program, even if it only meant 1984 and since then. Half a loaf is better than no loaf at all! *sigh*

Music City Roots seems an odd bird for Hippie Radio...as does Even Stevens show..Even is a fabulous songwriter..but both shows are not in tune with the format Hippie runs...I know..if it makes money sell it..and at the times the shows run..very few listening anyway...just think other more format friendly programs could be inserted...Be nice if they could have found some talent off this board for the VT gig mid days....
