Radio networks: Who owns what?

Who's on first, what's on second...oh, yes; what companies own what radio networks? You have "Fox News" which is actually owned by Premiere; "NBC
News Radio" which is owned by Westwood One (part of CBS/Infinity, right, or
vice versa...)

What with ABC Radio possibly being sold to Entercom--but wait. Radio Disney
and ESPN Radio won't be involved. Just ABC Radio. Meaning, ABC newscasts?
ABC talk shows?

In Boston here's how it breaks down, I think:

WRKO: ABC newscasts, Fox newscasts; Premiere-syndicated shows (Rush, Drudge,
Noory/Art Bell). Premiere also syndicates Glenn Beck and Phil Hendrie
so I guess WRKO could carry those shows if they want (or maybe Premiere
could go to someone else if they refuse; or is it a case of "WRKO doesn't
want to run Beck or Hendrie, so it doesn't air at all in Boston"?

I think Fox does Tony Snow and Alan Colmes. Neither on in Boston though they'd
be on 'RKO (and 'RKO did briefly air Colmes), if anything

WEEI: runs Fox Sports TOH sports updates and shows (JT The Brick, Sedano, etc.)

WBZ: runs CBS newscasts and might wind up with the new Severin show from
Infinity

WTKK: Runs NBC News Radio (owned by Westwood One) and CNN (ditto) as well
as W-One syndie shows like O'Reilly, Ron Insana, and Imus. But they also
have Hannity, which is from ABC Radio (thought 'RKO was the ABC station?
or is it just for newscasts?). And to make it even more interesting
while Hannity's _radio_ show is put out by ABC, his _TV_ show, co-hosted
with Colmes, is on Fox News!

anyway, kind of confusing at times, with who owns what...and who runs what...
Or at the very least I think it's funny that "NBC" doesn't own NBC
News Radio, and "Fox" doesn't own Fox newscasts (Premiere does) or Fox
Sports (Westwood One?...again, gets confusing!)

And just as important, who owns they who own - Re: Radio networks: Who owns what?

Raccoon - this is a great topic.

Let's go a little deeper - who are the Corporations (if any) above the Corporations - i.e. doesn't General Electric own NBC, and isn't G.E.
part of the re-building of Iraq? (to the tune of 800 million so far, I hear).

It's kind of like The New York Times owning 17% of The Red Sox as well as
owning The Boston Globe. When I read a Sox story in the Globe (Yesterday
Shaughnessy "Theo Back In", today "Theo back out") - I see "For Immediate
Release" invisibly above each column.

So if these major major entities with billions and billions of dollars control the flow of information, can we believe what is being presented.

Side note to all this: Clear Channel has constructed these HUGE Billboards
(they look like they are on rocket launchers) alongside Route 93 heading into Boston over near Route 16 in Medford. One wonders how they can turn a profit
with such monstrous expenses for these structures. It would be nice to see
Boston's Progressive Talk promoted on one of these alongside-the-highway
tools.

But Raccoon's previous post, and the question posed here, would make a fascinating article.

Fox News Radio is owned by Fox, uplinked by Premiere. Fox Sports Radio is owned by Premiere and the name is licensed from Fox.

Thanks! Yes, I knew something was odd with Fox Sports Radio--
i.e., not owned by Fox, but the name is _licensed_. Got it!

But how much rah-rah for the war is on NBC? I do know that years ago there
was a story critical of GE that was supposed to run on NBC Nightly News
but it got squashed. With military contracts (aircraft engines from
Lynn, for example), you'd think they'd support the Pres. and the war.

It would

Aren't they doing that? I saw a Cl. Channel billboard promoting Franken
in Salem, and there were "taxi tops" promoting him and AAR, too.
