Radio New Zealand International

I heard them on TWO frequencies, both in AM mode, at the same
Time.

I’ve never heard that before, though I have heard them before on two frequencies before, one in AM and one in DRM.

Until 1650 UTC Oct 20, they were on 11610 and 7440, when they moved to 9700

Just had a look at Eibi, short-wave.info and HFCC Data for both A24 and B24, there's no 11610 listed for RNZI there. Nor is it on the RNZI site

I believe I caught these guys on shortwave last week when I was out on the coast. I heard a news report about a car accident in Auckland, and some other reports about the weather forecast. Pretty interesting stuff!

RNZP still has two operational transmitters: the new Ampegon, and the Thomson/Thales unit from 2006. Both can run either AM or DRM. Perhaps a test transmission?

For us longtime shortwave listeners, RNZ with two transmitters simulcasting in AM mode was the norm during the days of the original 7.5kW units 1948-90.
