RADIO NEWS IN THE ALBANY MARKET

There are just three radio stations that gather and report their own news.

WGY does an excellent job and they shine. But afternoons they sound like they're in a big hurry and the newscast ends almost as quickly as it begins. Their website is a crapshoot.

Talk1300 does an good job with the old WROW'ers Mike Carey, John Murphy and Matt Vischer Ferry as "the meteorologist"

WROW would be much better if they worked as a team. The afternoon guy must relish the daily newspaper.
The other afternoon (after a post appeared on this board stating they were reading verbatim off WGY and Channel 9 websites) he was reading 36-hour old stories. Sherman, you need to find a good field reporter who will stay out and about. Someone who respects others and does not make comments about them on behalf of people within earshot.

Johnny gets his news from Cap9 at am 900 and on TV Channel 9

And FYI there's also PBS on 1400 am

WGY is ok am drive, but you're right, very rushed and constricted in pm drive.

WROW am drive is ok but the pm drive stinks because since Mike and the Mad Dog you never know when you'll get hit between the ears with a newscast.

I'll agree with you that Talk1300 is a very solid, time-tested proven product. Mike Carey is the Mike Tyson of newscasting! :p
