It's been a long time, but I'm seeing spots for radio stations on TV again...I have seen Movin' and KSCS in the last week. Is this a sign that marketing budgets are coming back?

My money would be on a combination of 2 things-
#1 being that we just entered 2nd quarter....And if stations do have some marketing money, it might have 'kicked in' during 2nd quarter-
almost every station I've ever worked for has been big on controlling costs in 1st quarter when billing is lower...so I'd bet that most GM's, if they did budget for marekting, put more in 2nd quarter than first- which is why we're seeing a rash...
And #2- it is sweeps next month. I know ad rates are generally higher in radio during sweeps months (for stations that get a lot of TV money) because there's more pressure on inventory...I don't know this, but I wouldn't be suprised if TV is basically the same- if Ad rates for TV go up in May, might be best use of your money to spend it in April and June as opposed to May...Make you money stretch a little further by controlling your costs...

I've noticed a few ads for Jack FM too. I'm not sure the marketing budgets are coming back, but they should. I don't see nearly as many radio station billboards as I used to. I don't get mailers much anymore. There are so many things they used to do but don't anymore that I just wonder if they're hoping somehow people will stumble across the station by accident.

I am fairly certain that he and good ol' D.E. are related... to Domino, perhaps?
