Radio on UK Freeview DTV

This could be done with ATSC 1.0 DTV too (it could even be surround sound), any call for rebroadcasting local radio stations on local ATSC 1.0 DTV stations?

I believe there are some ASTC 1.0 stations doing audio only subchannels but it's not that prevalent. As part of ATSC 3.0, a few companies are exploring the possibility of launching audio only channels and then offering receivers designed to pick up these ATSC 3.0 audio channels.

It's more common in countries like the UK where most radio and TV stations are repeaters of a national network and transmitters are usually clustered in one or two locations in a market.

Out here in the San Francisco Bay Area. K-LOVE radio is repeated on ATSC KQTA-LP Channel 15.7.

The big difference between the US and UK and why they can put their radio station on freeview because European Radio tends to be more of regional to national network coverage versus the US. The only closest radio network in the US is similar to the European Coverage are Christian radio station such as K-LOVE, Air-1, Way-FM, CSN, Family Radio, AFR, VCY, etc. Also, as for regional radio coverage that would be some NPR stations that have statewide coverage such as Nebraska, Iowa, Vermont, Nevada, etc.

Never going to happen because A) Consumers wouldn't purchase special tuners to receive the audio channels.
B) There is already radio and streaming.
Solution meet lack of problem.

The only time I've ever had an audio channel only on tv was in Iowa City with the state of Iowa reading service for the blind.
