Radio One Gets RDS

At first the RDS screening read:

107-5

then it went to 1 0 7 5 with it scrolling across.

It is now:

Power 107-5/ (Song title)/ (Artist) and on commercial it shows the slogan: Columbus' Hip-Hop & R&B

This is a big upgrade for R1. Nice work.

Current standings:

Power: #2 in the city (would be #1 if 'COL didn't hold it)
Magic: #6 in the city
Joy: #18 in the city
 
Welllll... you have to consider a lot of radios out there don't support RDS. Heck I remember back in 2000 I asked a seasoned engineer if their station was going to start using RDS and he told me it was basically a waste of their time and resources since no one used it.

I like RDS personally and my cell phone/fm tuner supports it but I don't imagine a lot of people out there have it.
 
Yeah, I wonder if they did it because they're doing well in the city, and they're trying to keep up with NCI. Heck, they're beating NCI. Their legal ID "Chevy Studios".. coincidence to NCI's "Nationwide Studios".. Power's RDS is nice though. They keep up with the songs.. it doesn't stay stuck on a song like NCI's does sometimes. I think since Power is starting to show mad success, they're thinking, "Why not blow some money on something that will help us keep up with WNCI" not to mention, R1 did get a load of cash from the Main Line sell.
