radio one hit wonders

Who are some ofthe radio one hit wonders??? Folks who shined brightly then left our high pay industry to become.... whatever??? Thoughts..

Great idea for a thread, but I'm coming up a little short on names. Only one guy I knew, and this is obscure, worked at WHPA in Honesdale in the mid 70s, from where he jumped to WSYR-TV in Syracuse anchoring weekend news. Shortly thererafter, he decided the broadcasting business sucked over all and walked away. Really bright guy, had the looks and the sound that could've taken him far, but he just walked away. One of his pals at WSYR at the time did fairly well for himself, that would be Bob Costas. Right here in the heart of the market, I do know of two men who, although great at what they did, left the biz for careers in law enforcement.

I could think of two. Tim Earl from WILK who was the weekend guy and a teacher I believe, and WILK's and RHV's (WRKC FM) Shivaun. The latter, working at a law firm in Kingston. Cardoni and Associates, think she does part of their commercials.

Jeff Walker. One trick pony...would never make it in a big market, but great for you folks in that small town up there.

Shivaun did the in-store for Boscov's. Sexiest voice I've ever heard in a department store. You just wanted to rush to the floor she mentioned and madly embrace the product she was advertising.

On behalf of all us "...folks in that small town up there." may I be the first to politely suggest you go away, and leave us to our miserable, desperate existences. Besides, you must be terribly busy, what with all those fans of yours, wherever it is you are in the big city. We are all so envious...

Who cares where I am now. I kicked Walker's ass in one book when I was there. And then 3 after that. You didn't even address his existence...so..I must be right. No defense from you. Apparently you agree, he is a one hit wonder...

Who cares where you are now? Apparently no one cares, mostly because we have no idea who you are. But if you were somewhere, you'd be happy to share. You're not, so the obvious conclusion would be - you're nowhere. Us "little" people here in "small town" America wish you all the best...

I think the gentleman has his "One Hit Wonders" and "One Trick Ponies" confused... Jeff, like 'em or not, being highly rated in the market for most of two decades does not a One Hit Wonder Make!!!!! I'd be happy with half that longevity.

Jeff's been at KRZ 25 years. That longevity is in itself worthy of praise and recognition.

Occasionally someone will ask me how I've managed to stay at one radio station for so long. I like to tell them I chalk it up to two things. Laziness and lack of ambition.

Earlier in this thread someone mentioned Shivaun working for the Cardoni law firm---she does not. She is now General Manager of Odyssey Fitness in Wilkes-Barre, but still does V/O work for agencies. Some of you may recognize the male voice from that sopt at Walt Mitchell formerly of WILK.
Shivaun is also in a comedy group ONE LAUGH AT LEAST with former rocker Keith Edwards

Careful what you say. I married her several years ago.*

*Well, her and her husband.

That was me. I stand corrected. By looking at me, you'd think I'd have the latest updates on employees in the local fitness centers. Now bakeries, I'm on a first name basis with but fitness centers.........................
