I see on Facebook that Rayne has been fired from WNOU... even checked his profile and it looks to be true. Doesn't that leave Radio One with no Program Directors on any of their stations in market?

I don't know BOTJ: They are rebuilding one of the Walgreens here and replacing a few of the pharmacy techs with a machine that automatically selects vial size, prints label and applies to bottle, fills with appropriate medicine, puts on cap and it comes out with all printed material and bag, ready for the pharmacist to quick-check and stick in the bag.
It will handle the bulk of their prescriptions with 30% fewer people.
One of the CVS Pharmacies already has this machine. It’s a Walgreen’s/CVS’ version of VoiceTracking!

Seriously though, people wonder why they don't have jobs...computers are taking over pretty much everything.
I got out of radio a few years ago because the pay was awful and I was moved to VTing like most of the staff. I now work in a decent-sized hotel. "Customer service" is our big buzzword. However corporate (Hyatt) decides to cut half the front desk staff and replace them w/ computerized kiosks. Less than 10% go to those kiosks.
Give it 10 years...when you check in to a hotel, listen to a radio station (like they'll exist in any relevant form anyway!), go to a restaurant, etc...it WILL be automated and computerized. Give it another 10 years when large numbers become lazy and unemployed and we will be living much like the people in the movie "Idiocracy"

grocery stores have added automated checkout areas.i wonder when that will be the only option.

Seems that human checkers, there to monitor the whole transaction, are better off for the bottom line of the stores...less error, better interaction with customers, helpful... Everything radio seems to have lost these days.

Juan the Kroeger owned Stores in my Area from 10pm to 6am the only registers open are the self serve checkouts with the Manager on Duty at the time the person running them in case there is need of help with an Item usually. if the mananger isnt off trying to take care of something else in the storeJuan Bodley said:

A weakness of the "U SCAN /AUTOMATED" check outs is produce. If a customer wants to really "save" remember the four digit number of something on sale, use that number and the machine weighs it and gives you the "low" price. Most organic fruits and vegetables have a 9 then the regular four digit number. If a customer "forgets" to punch in the 9 then the customer only pays the regular price, not the extra 20 to 30% organics usually cost. In the 1950's and 1960's (exact dates are a little fuzzy now) NYC use to have "automates" that were just a whole wall sandwich vending machine. I believe they are mostly gone now.

R1 has been trying to sell this cluster. No buyers. Price reduced to less than what they paid.
Right now is not the time to be selling a radio station (or a house) unless your lenders are forcing the issue. Financing is questionable, billings (which should have a huge impact on the price unless the station's signal can be upgraded) are just recovering. There are too many "deals" due to bankruptcies out there for anybody to get a fair price.
Sometimes debt can force sales, as happened with Emmis recently. Radio One is not in great shape.

True, but smart (they were not smart to become one but now let hope they are a little wiser) lenders do really what to "own" broadcast properties. There is a thread about R1 taking a move in signal 92.1 and going all news in Houston. If they pull it off, they will have some cash to help pay down debt. I guess their lenders are going to wait and see what happens. All news stations bill really well in top ten markets. Texas, being a right to work state will keep the talent costs low.
