Radio One Said To Be Pulling Plug On Stews

According to Rob Redding's Redding Report, Radio One will shut down Syndication One at the end of the year. The Zone's 2 Live Stews have one of the shows on Syndication One.

Two shows carried by 102.5, Al Sharpton and Warren Ballentine, also are distributed by Syndication One and will be canceled.

This story seems to have a number of implications for Atlanta radio.

Re: Radio One Said To Be Pulling Plug On Stews(What's wrong with Radio One)

Politics is going to bring them down. They had a great lineup with Thompson and Lane. To save a few cents the fired them and replaced them with junk. Now the junk is gone. I would imagine The Power will be gone as well.

Another great addition to XM gone. I would say XM Produce this in house, but that wont happen. (Unless it became a Rap Talk Channel lol)

Im assuming Tom Joyner Morning Show (KISS 104.1), Russ Parr Morning Show, Rickey Smiley Morning Show, Yolanda Adams Morning Show (PRAISE 97.5) and Spirit of Hip-Hop (HOT 107.9) will still be a part of syndication with Radio One???

This may actually increase 102.5's midday ratings if they add R&B music from 10am-3pm. If true, Magic Man formely of V103 would be the DJ pick since he's already on board at 102.5.

I cant' see why. Whatever happened to an audience for a pair of guys who sound like they're 15 broadcasting from their Mama's basement?

Yes.

I think Radio One sees Rickey Smiley as Russ Parr's eventual replacement and is really going to push the show. I predict Hot 107-9 will be carrying Smiley in January.
