Radio One to move WRNB to 100.3

KYW uses the same music (is that what you are talking about?) but in a different key .
I wasn't around in 1970 to notice, but have noticed since ages that they have used the same music which i is something i've never heard anywhere else.

He was talking about WPVI. KYW's current iteration of jingles only dates back to 2001. They style and actual signature of course has been around since the 70s though.

And it is still Channel 6 Action News, not 6ABC Action News, even though they will refer to the station a 6ABC.

they where playing a song by little wayne it did not even go through the whole song then WRNB popped on @ 11:58 with mary j blidge 100.3 is simulcasting on 107.9 for now dont know if a new format may come this weekend or after labor day

Is it a straight simulcast, or a shadowcast, like how 104.5 and 106.1 did when Sunny and WJJZ were dumped?

I can't believe it took Radio One this long to make this move. As soon as Y-100 was killed, I felt the company had made the wrong decision not putting (what was then the relatively new) WRNB on the big signal.

Though I'm not in the direct demo, I do (personally) wish one of the two Urban ACs would find a way to program an hour without putting me to sleep. For every great "driving" song on either 'DAS-FM or 'RNB, one has to sit through a dozen sleepy ballads. I'm not saying they should sound like the "Jammin'" format of ten years ago, but it's such a downer to go from "Back In Love Again" to something that'll put me into comatose mode. Again, I'm not in the demo-- so I guess it doesn't really matter.

The format change to a heavy leaning hip hop station will be today at 5 PM.

Was what 100.3 had been running not "heavy" enough? Not trying to be a wiseguy, I really don't know as it's not my thing. But it always seemed pretty heavy to me.

LOL think "Hot 97" NYC with very little R&B to protect RnB. The Beat hip hop to R&B mix was around 70/30. The new station will be 90/10 :'(
