Radio One Voicetracks!

HOT 107.9 Atlanta's midday jock Maria More adds middays at HOT 107.9 Philladelphia. She will still be live in Atlanta 10pm-2pm, but voicetracking the Philly 10pm-3pm shift. Is Radio One joining the voicetrack game???

Radio One was already heavily voicetracking elsewhere but WRNB was notable for lots of long-time locally identifiable personalities.

This is another reason why Clear Channel needs to reevaluate how it is being so laissez faire about the programming of Power 99FM. Radio One is being just plain lazy and cheap with their Philly cluster especially the now degraded mainstream urban station on 107.9 frequency.

Uesd to think 92.3 in baltimore was the worst sounding station radio-one owned

but i gotta pass that medal too Hot 107.9 philly it sounds horrible

Why are they "calling in" a whats supposed to be a HOT hip hop station in Philly? Doesn't make sense. Syndicate mornings with Rickey Smiley, now VT middays from their "Hot" station in Atlanta. No one LIVE until afternoons? HUGE mistake. This is Philadelphia. Which is actually a bigger market than Atlanta. Wow...thats awful

I was thinking the same thing. Not sure if Radio One Philly is as strong as the Radio One stations here in Atlanta.

Radio-one had a top 5 hip-hop station in philly back in 2003 when colby colb was the PD of the beat
they sounded great too

It was easier to program "The Beat" in philly in 2003 since the music was better then. 107.9's biggest problem is they are trying to cater to young listeners, but that audience mostly listens to mp3s & ipods, not radio. Some people in their late 20's still listen to FM in their cars, but for the most part, 107.9 is fighting a losing battle with the stuff they currently play.

This is very true. The future of urban radio stations that spins current hip-hop/R&B will be dayparting thus placing the emphasis on the younger demographics in afternoons and evening hours.

Yes...Power 99 in Philly voice tracks afternoons which is awful. The jock T-Roy from down in Florida does his best to talk about Philly and he's a good jock but to voice track on one of the biggest Hip Hop stations in the country and AFTERNOONS!! at that...awful
