Radio People Making Cuts....

Word on the street is that Jess and Frog were cut loose today.

Sorry Frog, I guess you blew up one too many transmiters. Don't know what happened to Jess. Can anyone confirm or have any deatils...

I hate to hear about our Broadcasting Brothers loosing their jobs. I will keep my fingers crossed that both land on the feet soon.

I never said anyone got fired...I said cut loose. But then again that is just the word on the street that I am hearing. I do apologize if I got that wrong.

Cut Loose does not equal fired.

It could mean laid off, asked to leave, moved from full time to part time, moved to contractor only status...

Either way, it's not a great time to be out of work for anyone. As an engineer Frog has much better opportunity to get work than Jess does. If I can help either, just give me a call.

True dat!

I'm going to focus on freelancing. If anyone needs an engineer (has truck & tools, will travel) its $45 an hour.

- 7 years of actual hands-on engineering experience
- At one time I was hired by Maestro to be their first hybrid Scott/Maestro traveling tech (thank you dMarc for crushing that dream)
- At one time I was an engineer for every major station in the Dothan market as well as Double-O Radio in Panama City
- Processing guru (listen to my work: WDJR, WESP, WDBT, WUSD, WPFM, WAKT, WRBL)
- Built WUSD from nothing in 3 weeks (studio, transmitter site, temp office at Tx site to ward off Jack Mizell)
- Oversaw the build of 1,050 foot tower in Bonifay (WDJR)
- I'm also extremely computer/IT/Web savy
- I was also on the air for 12 years and held my own in the Dothan market doing nights and afternoons on WDJR, so if you need voice tracking...I have a home studio too.

For more info on how to contact me: http://gregrickaby.com

As far as Jess...I didn't agree with the decision to cut him. There were more obvious positions that could have been eliminated before his. That didn't sit right with me, so I resigned. I will however be doing some contract work helping the newly hired Wade Thompson.

In the end, I simply cannot stomach the politics any longer. I will not bash, hate, or harp on this board. I have stated my peace in private. I wish Jess, and all the truly hard working people over there the very best. My heart will always remain with: The Radio People

So you were an enigineer for Majic and WOOF Too?

Indeed I have (except WOOF) remember Greg Kamishlian? Even did the AM up in Ozark for a while. And while I'm braggin on myself I was also OM/PD for Newstalk 1053 (WDBT) since it singed on last year.

I don't recall you doing work for Majic Ahhh Yes Greg.... Hmm He didn't last long. You don't think WOOF is a Major Station in Dothan ? PD Huh ? @ 105.3 did you ever get all the dead air worked out over the last year?

Frog....$45/hr is way low....you are going to leave A LOT of $$$$ on the table

stations pay more than $45/hr to have their copier repaired......their transmitter is a lot more important than a copier

cceng

Agree with CCENG. That is too low. I think even plumbers get $85 dollars an hour. Of course they
have to put up with more $hit then we do. But not by much.

Clearing things up a little. I handle engineering for WOOF AM/FM and I think
most consider them Major Players.

Whoa! Three engineers openly on the same thread! This will get us sent to a "time out" no one will be able to find.

Hey Frog,

magis is thinking about installing a new Scott/google/wide orbit automation system. Could you handle the install? Cups be worth some serious change $$$$. If so you should contact one of the Bluewater guys.

Is Steve Youngblood no longer in charge of Engineering?

My apologies, I what I MEANT to type was:

- At one time I was an engineer for ALMOST every major station in the Dothan market as well as Double-O Radio in Panama City

I agree 110% WOOF is a major player. Calm down killers.

$45 too low? I would agree that it's too low for a Charlie W. or a Mike H. as they have 30+ years experience. I don't. I have 8. Guys, what would you suggest I charge?

I can handle installs SFLABOY, automation is what I specialize in. I also had access to Google Automation when it was in Beta, although I will deny it in court! ha!

Please email me: [email protected] as I don't know anyone at BlueWater.
