Radio Predictions for 2020

Not sure exactly what you're talking about. There are lots of radio stations already targeting 18-34, which is the millennial demo. These are for the most part stations that have always targeted that demo. The millennials have now aged into that demo, and older listeners (35 to 49) have aged out.

Millennials will start turning 40 this year (if you subscribe to 1980 as the first year of the generation). A 40-year-old and an 18-year-old are not the same listener. The bulk of millennials are 30+ now.

18-24 is a bit too narrow for ad targeting in radio. It might work for TV.

Twitch is subscription, radio is ad supported.
Am I remembering correctly that in the 60s and 70s stations actually targeted this audience?

I seem to recall that radio seemed to think teenagers and people in college liked Top 40 and all of a sudden once they became adults they switched to MOR or beautiful music.

Yes, 18-34 is a different audience from 25-49. Advertisers and radio programmers recognize this.
